Goodbyes and The Goonies

June 7, 2019

After saying goodbye to friends in Medford, we headed north to Portland. We stopped and saw friends along the way. Unfortunately, we didn’t take pictures with all of them.

One of the greatest advantages of renting our guest room out through Airbnb, was meeting guests who became family. Sireesha stayed with us for a couple of months while she worked at the hospital as part of medical school. She and Randi loved to talk “shop” at the end of the day. We enjoyed seeing her while we were in Portland.

Saying good bye to our bonus kids, Kristi and Curtis was hard. They always greet us with love, smiles and the best hugs. Prior to saying goodbye, we usually always know when we are going to see each other again, this time we didn’t. We carried them in our hearts, called on FaceTime and texted when we could and it made the distance easier.

One of the great perks of our adventure was reconnecting with friends along the way. This morning we had breakfast with Glynn in Portland. It had been a number of years since we had seen her. What a great way to start our day.

Next stop, Astoria OR

When our kids were young, they loved watching The Goonies. It was fun walking around the town that the movie was filmed at.

Driving through the small towns of Northwestern Oregon and Southern Washington, it was really nice to see all of the Pride displays. Seeing the flags and displays of support and welcome made our hearts happy.

Next stop…… The Astoria Column.
